Carole Dufouil is responsible for research at the National Institutre of Health and Medical Research (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale) where she specialises in neuroepidemiology. Her research focuses on the etiology of degenerative and cerebro-vascular diseases and she has more specific expertise in the connections between vascular factors, changes in the brain visible by MRI ( white matter hypersignals, atrophy) and neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular diseases. Having trained in statistics, she is also interested in the methodology of trials and the statistical methods used for the analysis of complex samples. She has a vast experience in large-scale trials and is currently responsible for a trial with more than 4,000 subjects. Within the Centre for Rare Diseases, she is responsible for the methodological support in epidemiological studie and trials.
